Shangri-La Introduces Kerry Hotel in Beijing

Nov 17, 2011

The Kerry Centre Hotel has been rebranded as Kerry Hotel, Beijing following a transformation to interiors. Upon entry into the hotel, guests are greeted by an onyx and white marbled space adorned with suspended crystal chandeliers, abstract art carpets, and unconventional ink work. A Chinese brushstroke video art piece by Japanese artist Shinichi Maruyama plays on a high-speed digital loop screen at the end wall of the elevator lobby. Behind the reception, a dream-like landscape is hand-painted on embroidered silk panels, while a glass piece from German artist Josepha Gasch-Muche is formed by a spiral of numerous layers of paper-thin optical glass carefully stacked on top of each other. Crafted by Ricardo Lighting, a 26-foot-high chandelier drapes from the ceiling of the second level to the lobby level, shimmering parallel to the illuminated staircase above water feature.
